Listen to a fresh FizzCast after the Pitt debacle:
The Fizz was filled with optimism after the win at USF, but received a pretty big letdown at the Dome when Pittsburgh laid down the law. It’s not time to sound the panic alarms, there’s still a chance for redemption this weekend in Morgantown, WV. Team Fizz sat down to dissect the Pitt game and indoctrinate a new member.
“This game did not make people think any less about Syracuse being able to make a bowl. Yes, it was an overmatched opponent. They were bigger, faster, stronger. When (Pitt) plays Miami, those are the best athletes in the country. When they come out and play Syracuse, it’s almost nothing in comparison.”
Making matters worse was the volume of recruits on the sidelines of the Dome for the game including Jonny Miller’s high school teammate, Adonis Ameen-Moore. D.A. weighs in:
“I think it’s a bit of an eye opener with Pitt comes out and strangles you and smacks you around. No question, if you have all those recruits in the house and you feel like you’ve turned the page, you have the atmosphere, you have the fans, you have homecoming Рyou wanna keep it to at least two scores.”
The NBA preseason game in the Dome between Minnesota and Detroit was supposed to get us excited for Jonny Flynn (injured), Wes Johnson (hardly played), and Jason Hart (played less) being back in Syracuse. Conroy was there:
“Midway through the 3rd quarter I was in a daze. I had no idea whether the score was close, who was on the court…we were pretty sure we could have stood in the left corner and put up a three and been more efficient than some of those guys. It was one of the most boring experiences I’ve ever been a part of.”
We also introduce to you the newest member of Team Fizz: Andrew Kannell, who will be joining the Fizz First recruiting beat and FizzCasts.
Advice from the boss:
“You will be implored, encouraged, demanded to be following Chandler Jones’ Twitter feed, sifting through Bryce Hawkes Facebook photos, taking press conference quotes out of context every week. Your sole purpose here is to cause trouble like the rest of us.”
Welcome aboard.
